New developments in technologies that promote remote and digital Project Management will also be covered. The course offers the opportunity to explore substantial technical elements and advances in Project Management in relation to Operations, Logistics and Supply chain optimisation, through specifically designed modules. Our expertise is supported by input from industry partners such as Jaguar Landrover, Brother International and Manchester Airport who have helped to develop the programme. The course also offers a distance learning option through our official partner Robert Kennedy College, Zurich, Switzerland.
One of the reasons I chose to study at University of Salford Business School, was the possibility of a placement experience in a company whilst writing the dissertation. Course Details The programme is block delivered and there are several entry points throughout the year. Students will take the modules below in a sequence dependent on their start date. The course is delivered in four blocks of intensive study periods. For each block, you study a single module for a 6-week period. Face-to-face teaching is delivered on campus for 6 hours each week.
In addition, you will attend the taught element of the Business Innovation Programme each Wednesday afternoon during the 6-week blocks. During this period, you will also undertake independent study in your own time with online support through the University’s virtual learning environment, Blackboard. For the final third of your studies, you will work on your Business Innovation Project, working with your own or another organisation on a live brief. You will learn about the approaches, skills and methods of effective project management, and the tools and techniques required for planning, control, teamwork, leadership and other key processes. All of these qualities will develop your ability to lead complex projects. Through this module you will critically analyse the theory, concepts and models of operations and information management.
Operations and Information Management provides you with an overview of how to improve different types of operations and information systems as well as contributing to a company’s competitiveness and strategy. The Procurement Risk and Contract Management module provides you with an overview of project risk and aids you in the development of the skills needed to effectively manage procurement processes in a multitude of environments. In Advanced Project and Logistics Management you will evaluate contemporary research in logistics and project management, critically analyse advances in project and programme management and review emerging technologies and innovations in logistics and project management such as big data analytics and virtual technologies. This module accounts for the final 60 credits of your degree.
You will have the opportunity to select between a live project, placement, internship or dissertation, all of which are designed to accommodate your career aspirations and enhance your professional experience. You will be allocated a supervisor who will mentor you through the BIP project. You will also have the opportunity to engage with the Student Hub and Student Life.
